Windows, Doors & Skylights

Windows and doors. Light in, weather out.

Energy-efficient windows, doors, and skylights for Chesapeake and Hampton Roads. Chosen to respect the architecture and installed like the construction they are.

How we approach it

Light, and the wall around it

A window is a hole in a weather barrier. How well it performs depends about equally on the unit itself and on how the opening around it was prepared.

01

When a unit is done

Fogging between the panes means the seal has failed and the insulating gas is gone. That one cannot be repaired, only replaced.

02

What you are buying

Two panes or three, the spacer at the edge, the thermal break in the frame. These decide comfort near the glass far more than the frame color does.

03

The opening does half the work

A sill pan and properly lapped flashing tape mean water that gets past the frame still leaves the wall. Fitted without them, a good window still causes damage.

Light as a material

Larger openings, French doors, and skylights where a room has no exterior wall to give. The point of the exercise is the light, not the hardware.

What we install

Openings, taken seriously

Windows and doors carry more of a house's character, and more of its energy bill, than almost anything else. We choose and install them accordingly.

Replacement windows

Energy-efficient units specified for coastal Virginia, with proportion, sightlines, and muntin patterns weighed as carefully as the efficiency label.

Entry & patio doors

The handshake of the house. Entry doors, sliders, and French doors chosen for security, weather, and the architecture they sit in.

Skylights & sun tunnels

Daylight from above changes a room more than almost any fixture. Flashed and integrated with the roof correctly, because that is where skylights live or leak.

Installed as construction

Flashing, insulation, and air-sealing at the opening decide performance as much as the glass. We treat every unit as a small piece of building, not a bead of caulk.

Good to know

Windows & doors, answered

What windows and doors do you install?
Energy-efficient replacement windows, entry and patio doors, and skylights, specified for coastal Virginia's climate and chosen to respect the architecture. Proportion and muntin patterns matter as much as the efficiency label.
Will new windows actually lower energy bills?
Quality units, properly flashed and insulated at install, noticeably reduce drafts and load on heating and cooling. Installation quality decides as much as the glass, which is why we treat it as construction, not caulk.
Do you install skylights?
Yes. Skylights and sun tunnels, flashed and integrated with the roof correctly. Daylight from above changes a room more than almost any fixture.
